Little did I know what I had in store as a journey when I made the leap to broadcasting from a barn with a simple mixer, and a mic hanging from a ceiling mount! Hundreds of shows later and much more experience under my belt to boot, here I am looking back to the first show.

For $120 worth of broadcast gear from Behringer, I ended up with a show that now has state of the art equipment in two completely outfitted studios! It has been a wonderful ride with countless people encountered along the way who I grew to know and love!

GhostRider Paranormal Radio became SoulStream Radio and we are still going strong!

Note that I did a “test” show on New Years Eve, 2008 for which I was truly on BlogTalkRadio for the very first time. This first “true” episode was broadcast on January 11, 2009. As far as I’m concerned, it was a continuation of that 2008 show. That test show was lost over the years and is nowhere to be found.

Enjoy a look back to the beginning with BlogTalkRadio with my very first show!

Show Text from that episode

We are a research team operating out of the Mother Lode Gold Rush region of Northern California only nine miles from where James Marshall discovered gold in California in 1849.

Our base of operations is, in fact, located ON a gold mining encampment. We regularly find tools, nails and artifacts from the mid to late 1800s on the land and have had more than our fair share of spooky encounters with spirits on the property in our thirty years here.

Ghost-Rider-Investigations, our official group name, investigates many of the gold-rush sites around the region and on out to Washington state, the coastal regions and into Nevada and Arizona.

We are going to be running our first test broadcast on January 10’th at 8 PM PST. This broadcast will test our various systems and processes. We will host a call-in guest and discuss paranormal experiences and cases we’ve worked on. A similar follow-up test broadcast with our bumper music and a similar broadcast will take place on January 17’th.

The inaugural broadcast will occur on January 24’th and we will select a regular time slot by that time. Our broadcasts will occur weekly from that time forward.

Feel free to chime in, offer suggestions and listen to us as we take our first tentative steps into broadcasting from a haunted gold mine here in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas!

Radio and my family

I come from a long line of radio enthusiasts. My father was a ham radio operator and disc jockey. My grandfather owned AM and FM radio stations, and was a ham operator as well. And I am general class ham operator, call sign KK6IQK.

We ALL were technologists from the start. I came by my interest in these things naturally as a result of my family history. It’s been a lot of fun and we are not done yet!
