The video below shows a Aerojet Rocketdyne RS-25 rocket engine was tested on the A-1 Test Stand at the John C. Stennis Space Center in Mississippi, on 8 February 2022. NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) will be powered by four RS-25 engines firing simultaneously. Towards the end of my career at Aerojet, I watched as these repurposed Space Shuttle main engines were being positioned for new working lives in the SLS Orion program and was proud to have been a very small part of that before I retired in 2017.
This test is a VERY long duration burn that ended successfully and shows the amazing high performance capabilities of the RS-25.
